You’ve just been appointed the manager of a mid-size software project. It is a technical project, involving a combination of C, C++, and some GUI in Java. You have a team of 17 developers on 2 sites, and the project is going to last about a year and a half. In the early planning of the project you discover that some part of the process is not well supported by any tool. You select a tool, a tool vendor, determine the cost, and you want to get additional funding from the VP of Development, who is a very busy guy dealing with some 35 other projects. Your assignment: – Select a commercial tool that supports one aspect of software development (and its not 100% free) – Find the cost for enough licenses of the tool to support your team of 17 for 2 years. – Write a 275 to 325 word memo to the VP of Development (his name is Ph. Kruchten, and he’s on a 3rd site) explaining your request and justifying it. Your assignment should therefore fit on one side of a single sheet of paper.
