In an effort to apply our class materials to real life experiences, you will interview two
individuals: 1) a young adult aged 18–25, and 2) the parent of a teenager OR a child/adolescent
educator. After the interviews, you will provide a written summary of each one and further
analyze them through the lens of our class materials.
INSTRUCTIONS
Explain the assignment in detail. Specify the exact requirements of the assignment. Items to
include are outlined as follows:
 12 pages (not counting title page or reference list, no abstract required)
 Use current Turabian format
 3 or more scholarly references are required (e.g. peer reviewed articles, books, class
materials, published in last five years)
 Part 1: Comparing and contrasting the experiences and observations of both interviewees
 Part 2: What, if any, are common themes, patterns, challenges, and experiences?
The interviews should address the following questions (ask any other questions that flow from
the interview):
Interview with a Young Adult:
1. What was the most difficult part of being a teenager in today’s world?
2. Describe the dating scene for your age group at the time. Did your friends date?
3. Describe any unhealthy dating behaviors you witnessed among your peers.
4. Describe any healthy dating behaviors you witnessed among your peers.
5. Do you believe there are biblical principles related to dating and sexual behavior? If so,
what are they?
6. Is it hard to date with God and the Bible in mind? Why or why not?
7. How do you know when you are “in love?”
8. What does purity mean to you?
Interview with the Parent of a Teenager OR a Child/Adolescent Educator:
1. What is the most difficult part of parenting or teaching teenagers today when it comes to
the culture? What about as it relates to sexuality?
2. Describe some of the unhealthy sexual behaviors and attitudes you are seeing among
your teenager/students?
3. Have you observed healthy relationships? If so, describe them. Are the parents involved?
4. Do you as a parent get involved in your son or daughter’s romantic relationships?
5. What are the most prevalent cultural messages and patterns you are seeing impacting
today’s teens?
6. What is the role/place for sex education today?
7. What prevention strategies are effective and being employed today?
